These positions are generously supported through the Canada Summer Jobs Program.

To be eligible you must meet the following criteria:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age on April 29, 2019;

  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,

  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

The Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival is a not-for-profit organization with a mandate to enrich cultural life in the Fraser Valley by bringing emerging and established jazz acts and visual art together for people of all ages to enjoy. Established in 2018, the festival drew thousands of residents and visitors to the streets of Fort Langley on the last weekend in July.

The mandate of the festival is to:

  • Make live jazz music and the work of local visual artists accessible to local residents, British Columbians and visitors.

  • Provide performance venues and opportunities for local musicians, visual artists, youth and emerging artists.

  • Contribute to the economic diversity of Fort Langley and area through presentation of quality cultural experiences.

  • Enhance Fort Langley’s historic tradition of live music, art, cultural awareness and fun for people of all ages.

The sights and sounds of live jazz and visual art will take over the streets of Fort Langley, July 26-28, 2019 at the 2nd annual Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival.

This year’s festival will feature an array of music and art activities for all ages:

  • Two full days of free non-stop jazz music from the morning until early evening featuring 25+ music acts on two outdoor stages

  • Pop-up street performance areas throughout the village featuring youth/emerging jazz musical acts over two days

  • Three ticketed music events: Friday night All Star Blues Show; Saturday night Tribute to Frank Sinatra big band swing dance; and a Sunday evening gospel/soul choir concert with the award- winning Sojourners and 50-voice Marcus Mosley Chorale

  • JazzFest AfterParty at Fort Langley restaurants

  • KidzZone featuring a variety of interactive music and art workshops, entertainment and demonstrations along Mary Street

  • Jazz education workshop for youth/emerging artists

  • History of Jazz presentations/music demonstrations
