+ What are the dates for the 2019 festival?
The 2nd annual Fort Langley Jazz & Art Festival will be held from July 26-28, 2019. The festival will expand to two and a half days and will starting in the evening on July 26, 2018 with a ticketed blues show, followed by two full days of free jazz music on Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28, 2019.

The Festival is held in the beautiful village of Fort Langley, B.C. Framed by the Fraser River, this idyllic location is the perfect place to get your fix of music, art, culture, culinary delights, and great outdoor adventures. + Where will the music be at the Festival?
The Festival features two outdoor main stages in front of the Fort Langley Community Hall on Glover Road .We also have busker performance stages located throughout the community. Basically, you’ll hear great live jazz music everywhere you go!

There are two full days of free music and art activities on July 27 and 28, 2019, along with three ticketed events: Friday, July 26 blues concert, Saturday, July 27 community dance/show and a Sunday, July 28 gospel/soul choir concert.
+ How can I get a gig at the Festival?
If you are an artist, band or street musician interested in playing at the 2019 Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival, please complete an online application form and submit your electronic press kit. Click here for the application form. Submission deadlines for Canadian and local artists/bands is December 31, 2018 and for street musicians, March 15, 2019.
+ How can I become one of the Festival street musicians?
Fort Langley will become a hub of talent during the festival with youth musicians and emerging talent playing throughout the community at six performance locations. Street musician performance applications are available here. We’ll accept applications until March 15, 2019.
+ How can I get tickets to the concerts and dance?
Tickets to the blues show, dance and gospel/soul concert will be available to purchase in 2019 online.
+ What art activities are at the festival?
We’re pleased to be collaborating with the Langley Arts Council on an exhibit of paintings based on the theme, “All That Jazz”. The exhibit will be located in the Fort Langley Community Hall on Saturday, July 27 from 10am-3pm.
+ What is the Kidz Zone?
The festival is excited to host a Kidz Zone that will feature an array of fun and interactive music and art activities for children of all ages. Workshop activities range from a preschool age Composers Corner, Make a Musical Instrument workshops, and Instrument Petting Zoo to Paint by Sound workshop and Indigenous Drum Making demonstrations. We’ll also have some children’s musical entertainment and face painting.
+ What is the jazz education workshop and jam all about?
If you’re a youth musician or emerging artist who is influenced by jazz music, you won’t want to miss this free education workshop and jazz jam. The workshop will be conducted by seasoned jazz educators and performers and will focus on jazz music as a business, jazz improvisation and other topics. There will be a jam session with professional musicians after the workshop for registered participants.

The jazz education workshop will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2019 from 12 noon-4:00pm at a location in Fort Langley to be confirmed closer to the festival.
+ Is there a cost for the jazz education workshop and jam?
The workshop fee is $20, payable at the door. Pre-registration is required. Be sure to register early as seats are limited!
+ Can I attend the workshop if I’m not a youth musician or emerging artist?
The workshop is intended for youth musicians and emerging artists who have a keen interest in jazz. Music educators and professional jazz musicians are also invited to register. Depending on available space, others may be able to attend. Fill-out a registration form and we’ll be in touch.

+ What should I wear?
The Festival happens rain or shine, so wear weather-appropriate clothing: raincoats and jackets, etc., for a wet day, hats and sunscreen, etc., for a sunny day.
+ What kind of seating is there at the Festival?
Seating is not provided at the festival, other than at the dance and the gospel concert. You’re encouraged to bring your own blanket or lawn chair. Tall chairs can be set up a certain distance from the stages. Low profile festival chairs and blankets are permitted closer to the stage.
+ Is there room for dancing?
Absolutely! A special no-seating area to one side of the stage is reserved for dancing. Those who don’t want to dance can stay in their seats without having their line of vision blocked.
+ Can I bring my dog?
Dogs on leash are permitted at the Festival. Owners must be in control of their dogs at all times.
+ Can I bring my own food?
Yes, by all means. Please place your recyclables in the appropriate recycling bins on site and minimize the amount of garbage you leave behind. Please note that controlled drugs and alcohol are not permitted at the Festival stage areas.
+ Can I buy food and beverages at the Festival?
There are many restaurants in Fort Langley—from fine dining, to pub food, to cafes and bistros—there’s something for everyone’s taste.
+ What else is there to do in Fort Langley?
Fort Langley offers a quaint, historic village with shops, restaurants, museums including the historic CN Rail Station and the Fort Langley National Historic Site. Surrounded by the Fraser River and lush agricultural countryside, it makes a great day trip from Vancouver especially when combined with visits to nearby Fraser Valley wineries and farms.
+ Can I bring my camera?
Yes, you may bring your camera, however professional audiotape or video recording of performances or the workshop is not permitted.
+ Are there ATMs available?
There is an ATM located across the street from the Fort Langley Community Hall at Coast Capital Savings.
+ Where are washrooms located?
Public washrooms, which are wheelchair accessible, are set up outside of the Fort Langley Community Hall.
+ Where can I purchase Festival merchandise?
A commemorative Festival t-shirt is available to buy during the Festival at the Fort Langley Community Hall Mainstage and the Bedford Plaza stage.
+ Am I permitted to smoke at the Festival?
The Fort Langley Community Hall Mainstage and Bedford Plaza stage are smoke/vaping free venues. Smoking/vaping is not permitted anywhere within the stage areas.
+ Is there a lost and found?
All items that have been found at Festival venues will be turned in to the Festival Information Centre located at the Fort Langley Community Hall. After July 1, contact the Festival via our contact form on our website for inquiries and pick up arrangements.
