5 Fun Facts About PHL – And Why They’re Proud Sponsors of the Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival

We’re thrilled to welcome PHL as a sponsor of the 2025 Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival! As first-time supporters of the festival and proud backers of our SUPER VIP Experience at the Cool Blues Show, the PHL team brings not only industry expertise—but big hearts and high energy. Here are five fun facts to help you get to know them better!

1. Built on a Simple Idea
PHL was founded on a simple yet powerful belief: everyone deserves access to reliable, transparent, and easy-to-understand mortgage solutions. Since 2006, PHL has grown to a team of over 30 individuals, with sales and investment teams managing over $850 million in assets. PHL has proven its ability to navigate the complexities of the market, all while delivering exceptional value and building confidence.

2. The Dream Team Has Roots
Their team at PHL isn’t just a group of professionals; they’re a dream team bringing together decades of experience in real estate, finance, and underwriting! It all started in 2006 when Parm Purewall and Steve Ponte founded the company. These visionary leaders, alongside their initial team, were passionate about transforming the Canadian mortgage landscape. From those early days of taking meetings at all hours across the Lower Mainland to now successfully funding deals across the country, PHL has truly come a long way. Fun fact: more than half of PHL’s senior leadership team have been with PHL for over eight years—many of them being the first employees hired.

3. How They Can Help
PHL provides investors access to mortgage-based investment opportunities and offer borrowers custom, adaptive financing solutions that go beyond standard bank parameters. By understanding each client’s specific challenges and goals, the PHL team delivers personalized services that empower investors to build a diverse portfolio to succeed in Canada’s dynamic real estate market, and support mortgage brokers in providing their clients with flexible mortgage solutions.

4. They Know How to Party (and Plan)
PHL has its own Party Planning Committee—and yes, they fully embrace the reference to “The Office.” Whether it’s National Donut Day, trivia challenges, or their signature “Cheers and Peers” afternoon socials, this crew knows how to have fun together and build strong team vibes.

5. Powering Progress:

Around the PHL office, especially among their sales team, you’ll often know when a deal has

been secured when you hear their sales manager shouting “LFG” around the office (accompanied by a victory lap, high-fives all around, and sharing toasts over a cold Bubly) to celebrate. It’s become such a frequent phrase, that they’ve even named their meeting room “LFG - Lend, Fund, Grow,” perfectly capturing their drive to help clients achieve their financial goals.

“As a company deeply rooted in building strong communities, we are thrilled to support the Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival,” says Steve Ponte, CEO of PHL. “This festival perfectly embodies our values of fostering connection and enriching lives through vibrant cultural experiences.”
