5 Fun Facts About Freybe Gourmet Foods – And Why They’re Proud Sponsors of the Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival

We’re thrilled to welcome Freybe Gourmet Foods as a returning sponsor of the Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival! Based right here in the community, Freybe is known for its mouthwatering meats—and its deep commitment to people, mental wellness and meaningful connection. Before you catch them at the Festival, get to know them a little better with these five fun facts:

1. Six Generations of Sausage-Making Excellence

It all started in 1844, when Johann Carl Freybe opened a small store in Germany with a big dream: to create high-quality, great-tasting sausages, the centre of memorable moments. That legacy made its way to Canada in 1955, when Johann’s great-grandson Ulrich brought Freybe’s signature flavours to Vancouver and across Canada. Six generations later, they’re still making every bite count—fueling memorable meals and meaningful moments from coast to coast.

2. A Company That Prioritizes Mental Health
At Freybe, their team believes supporting mental health is just as important in the workplace

as protecting the physical health of employees. In 2019, they implemented the "Not Myself Today" program to foster a workplace that’s not just physically safe, but also psychologically safe. They facilitate many opportunities for staff involvement such as seminars, speakers, and May Mental Health Moments for Mental Health Awareness Month.

3. Proud to Call the Lower Mainland Home
The Festival isn’t just a feel-good summer event—it’s part of the fabric of this community. And for Freybe, giving back is part of their recipe for success and something they’re extremely proud to do. That’s why they’ve chosen to sponsor the Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival for the second year. Because just like a good meal, great events bring people together.

4. Their Beloved Company Mascot

Although they don’t have a designated office pet, their company mascot is called Mr. Smokie.

5. Passion is the Secret Ingredient
What really sets Freybe apart? Their people. Every handcrafted product is made with care, consistency and a whole lot of heart. From the production floor to the office, the team believes in never cutting corners and always striving for quality you can taste.
