Your Artwork Could be Featured for the 2023 Festival!
Imagine having your original artwork in front of thousands of people! The Odlum Brown Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival is thrilled to announce our call for artists.
If you’re an established or emerging visual artist in the Fraser Valley, we invite you to submit a work of art to be used as the featured artwork for the 2023 Festival.
The selected piece of original visual art will be featured and used on Festival-branded materials including posters, postcard, program guide, website, social media, street banners, t-shirts and other collateral pieces. The selected artist will receive a $750 honorarium and recognition in various Festival communications.
This year’s theme is Jazz in the Fort - a festival experience like no other, with exceptional artists, extraordinary musical performances and visual art in a very special setting.
Submissions will be reviewed by the Festival Art Committee based on the following criteria:
Interpretation and clarity of the theme in the artist explanation and artwork
Creativity and originality of the depicted themed and artwork
Suitability for use in multiple different marketing and communications materials
Submission Deadline: January 31, 2023
Design Considerations:

All artwork must be original. Original artwork is created at the hand of the artist who is submitting the work. The creation process must be the effort of a single individual to convey their own personal interpretation of an image or multiple images. Submitting artists are allowed to use reference photos to inspire their work, but artists must use their own design and composition for the final artwork to be considered original.
Any medium is acceptable as long as the submission is a professionally scanned or a photographed digital version.
Artwork size: landscape or portrait size images are acceptable. The minimum size of artwork should be 8”x10” at 600 dpi; or (ii) in a format higher than 8-bit or in RAW format.
Please leave breathing room around the main focus of the image to accommodate some cropping when the art is used in the various sizes, especially in digital ad formats.
Bright vibrant colours with lots of contrast would be best suited for high visibility of the outdoor banners and signage.
Design Criteria:

Eligibility:
This call is open to applications from both established and emerging visual artists from the Fraser Valley.
Project Timeline:
Tuesday, January 31, 2023: Application package due
Friday, February 10, 2023: Selected artist will be informed
February 15: The selected artist will work with the Festival graphic designer to produce the final print ready image to be used in Festival branded materials..
Compensation:
The selected artist will be provided with a fee of $750 for use of their artwork and will enter into a Licencing Agreement with the Festival. The artist and their artwork will also be featured in Festival communications materials.
