Langley Community Music School (LCMS) is a non-profit organization and registered charity that is committed to providing the highest quality of musical education to students of all ages and levels, from early learning to pre-professional and adult programs. Longtime supporters of the Fort Langley Jazz Festival, this year they sponsored the Youth Concert Showcase Series, which took place on the Youth Stage at the Fort Langley Heritage CNR Station.

Company Origins & Milestones
In 1969, Langley Community Music School opened the doors of its then very small school to 28 young musicians. Today, LCMS is one of the largest non-profit music schools in the province, earning both national and international acclaim for their comprehensive and innovative programs. Located in its original location in the heart of Langley City Park, the now 19,000 sq. ft. facility is home to over 1100 students of all abilities and ages and features the Rose Gellert Hall, an intimate 250 - seat concert venue

Unique Business Facts
LCMS shares both free and low-cost events and concerts with the community throughout the year. In addition to hosting special events and concerts for children, the school also features professional concerts including the Rose Gellert Hall Series, an evening concert series featuring renowned Canadian and international musicians, as well as the Concerts Café Classico Series, a Sunday afternoon concert series featuring stellar local and touring musicians playing classical, jazz and contemporary works. 

Unique Business Fact
Many students and faculty – both past and present - are active jazz and blues musicians, including multi-Juno Award-winning artists Renee Rosnes and Brad Turner. Brad is also a Resident Artist at LCMS, where he leads the schools Jazz Ensemble and gives workshops and concerts throughout the year.

As music educators and presenters, LCMS is committed to fostering a thriving, local arts community for the next generation of artists and audiences. The organization has proudly supported the Jazz Festival for many years and in a multitude of capacities including sponsor of the Rising Spirit Stage in 2023 and 2024.
