Get ready to step back in time and experience an unforgettable evening of big band music, swing dancing and entertainment! On Friday, May 12, the iconic Fort Langley Community Hall will be transformed for the Big Band Swing Dance & Silent Auction.
Join us for this fantastic fundraiser in support of the Odlum Brown Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival.
The highlight of the night will be the Dal Richards Orchestra. Known as the King of Swing, Dal and his band had a long history of performing at popular venues in Vancouver, including the PNE bandstand and the annual New Year celebration at the Bayshore Hotel. Their music is sure to transport you back to the big band era and get you up and dancing.
Not only will you be dancing the night away to swinging big band music, you'll also have the chance to bid on some amazing items at the silent auction, with 100% of the proceeds going towards supporting the Festival. And if you're new to swing dancing, don't worry! The night kicks off with free swing dance lessons to get you ready to groove on the dance floor.
The Fort Langley Community Hall, built in 1931, was designed for the music of that era, making it the perfect venue for the big band sound. The ballroom floor is the only remaining horsehair dance floor in BC, reminiscent of the ballrooms of old. We thank the Fort Langley Community Improvement Society for sponsoring the event.
