One of the most honoured blues and gospel singers of our time, Ruthie Foster is bringing a collection of songs possessing pure talent and resilience.

Sporting numerous awards, including multiple Grammy Award nominations, Ruthie Foster is a true veteran in the industry and brings a Texas blues-Americana sound in gospel, jazz, folk, soul and blues.

The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer

 

The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer are excited to deliver good vibes, rock, groove and soul at the Cool Blues Show.

This Juno-nominated band based out of Vancouver is known as one of the best live blues performers. Their reputation for live music is so notorious that they created an entire album from music performed at the iconic blues mecca, the King Edward Hotel, in Calgary. 

The pair have combined their decades of musical know-how to create a unique take on Rock & Roll swagger and deep blues style, with Shawn Hall on vocals and harmonica (The Harpoonist) and Matt Rogers on guitar (the Axe Murderer).

My Son the Hurricane is bringing a show like no other to the Cool Blues Show!

A hurricane of instruments and positive vibes, My Son the Hurricane, will be coming in hot with their multi-horn, multi-singer and multi-drummer “brass funk beast.”

With over 100 festivals played all over Canada, the US and Europe, and featuring trumpets, saxophones, trombones, guitars, drums and other percussion instruments, My Son the Hurricane knows how to bring the dance party.

Cousin Harley

 

Cousin Harley will leave you in a “jet-fueled rockabilly haze” at the Cool Blues Show.

With high-energy rockabilly and western swing at its finest, Cousin Harley will be exploding onto the stage with an “all-out” approach to rock and roll that has entertained international audiences for over 20 years.

With Paul Pigat on guitar and vocals, Jesse Cahill on drums and Jeremy Holmes on bass, this Vancouver band is excited to share their unique blend of classic honky tonk, western swing and classic jump blues.

Emmett Jerome & Hollywood Alberta

 

Emmett Jerome & Hollywood Alberta will open for the Cool Blues Show on Friday!

Presenting Hollywood Alberta - the bar-rockin’, foot-stompin’ passion project from Emmett Jerome. Alongside fellow musicians - Alex “Dallas” Taylor on bass and Max Earchuk on drums and vocals - Emmett has travelled extensively throughout Alberta and BC to share the band’s good-humoured interpretations of classic American music.  

With love for all things blues, roots and rock-n-roll, Emmett Jerome & Hollywood Alberta feature a funky rhythm section, blazing steel guitars and heartfelt original music.

Five Alarm Funk

 

Five Alarm Funk will be burning up the stage at the Cool Blues Show on Saturday!

Epic arrangements, heavy groove and a unique fusion of jazz, funk and rock, Five Alarm Funk is a Vancouver-based band renowned for hyping up the dance floor. The group is eight musicians strong and consists of amped-up horn, percussion and guitar sections sure to get you moving. 

Their decade-long career has seen the release of five successful albums.

Crystal Shawanda

 

Get ready to be blown away by the unmistakable powerhouse voice of Crystal Shawanda at the Cool Blues Show.

Crystal’s powerful vocals were something she felt she had to hold back during her time as a country artist, but performing as a blues artist allows her to “let it fly” and stay in touch with a genre she’s loved since childhood. 

Multiple JUNO Award winner, GRAMMY nominee for Best Contemporary Blues Album of the Year 2022, CEO and mom, Crystal is a force to be reckoned with.

Silent Partners

 

Silent Partners are bringing their feel for rhythm and blues to the Cool Blues Show.

Legendary bassist Russell Jackson, who has played with names like B.B. King, Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne and Johnnie Taylor, is joined by the talented percussionist Tony Coleman (who’s also played with B.B.) and guitarist Jonathan Ellison to create a trio that is anything but silent. 

The trio pulls from over half a century of combined experience to shine a light on the soul of the blues and bring a refreshing take on modern blues music. This will surely be an unforgettable performance.

David Gogo Band

 

David Gogo Band is bringing a ton of style and excitement to the Cool Blues Show.

Led by Westcoast blues guitarist David Gogo, the David Gogo Band is among the most sensational blues acts around! The band offers a great blend of soulful ballads to high-energy rockers that will have you tapping your toes and nodding your head from start to finish.

David Gogo has a multitude of awards including six JUNO Award nominations, Guitarist Of The Year three times at the Maple Blues Awards, Musician Of The Year at the West Coast Music Awards, Blues Recording Of The Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards, and the Great Canadian Blues Award for his lifetime contribution to the blues in Canada.

Marcus Trummer Band

 

Get ready to dance to “rock and soul” music by emerging blues artist, Marcus Trummer Band, opening for the new Cool Blues Show on Saturday!

An illustrious emerging Canadian artist, Marcus Trummer has been dubbed “a precocious guitarist whose vocals possess a wise-beyond-his-years weariness” by the Calgary Herald. He calls his unique sound, which weaves southern soul, blues and roots rock into a modern sound steeped in tradition, “rock and soul”.

Trummer has built a reputation as a compelling live performer, and his songwriting ability has earned him Blues Recording of the Year at the 2022 YYC Music Awards.
