Here’s a bit of background information on these amazing artists:
With a towering four-octave range and a powerful blues and gospel-tinged jazz vocal approach, Dee Daniels has built a sterling reputation amongst jazz fans and critics around the world for over three decades. Whether accompanying her self at the piano, fronting a trio, big band or symphony, she is a unique talent who transcends musical borders when she brings her jazz styling, infused with gospel and blues flavouring to the stage.
Virtuoso Brazilian guitarist, percussionist, multi-instrumentalist and composer, Celso Machado, transports his audiences through the richness and diversity of Brazilian music and beyond. For forty years Celso has been performing on concert stages throughout Brazil, Western Europe, Scandinavia, Canada, and the United States. Considered one of the most versatile and exciting musician/composers of Brazilian music today, his guitar technique is but one of his passions; his gift for making music out of anything and everything around us is his mission in life.
African-Canadian/Cherokee singer Dalannah Gail Bowen has been making music for forty years on the Canadian blues, rock and soul scene. Her style has been described as “Billie Holiday meets Howlin’ Wolf,” and she’s known for having “a truly spectacular set of pipes…Smoky. Earthy. Soulful. Powerful” (Canadian Musician). Over the years she has worked with many of the blues greats, including BB King, Joe Bonamassa, Taj Mahal, Jim Byrnes, Jerry Doucette, Steve Dawson, and others.
Miles Black is a highly respected career musician bringing an enormous wealth of musical experience and expertise to most every facet of the music industry. Firstly, known as one of Canada's most accomplished jazz pianists, Miles is also highly acclaimed and sought after as an arranger, producer, composer, session musician, guitarist, vocalist, bassist, saxophonist, songwriter, and musical theatre director. Especially in Vancouver, Miles is well known as the "first call' when musicians are looking for top professional enhancements to their projects.
Maya Rae is already a long way down the road of a phenomenal music career. CBC named Maya one of the “35 best Canadian jazz artists under 35”, calling her “a supremely gifted artist who’s able to phrase like Sarah Vaughan but write a lyric like Joni Mitchell.” Rae’s sublime originals brush shoulders with jazz standards and modern tunes her classmates might find familiar. Maya has performed on many stages and venues including the Vancouver Jazz Festival, Jazz Vespers, Pyatt Hall and Blue Frog Studios.
